I managed to incorporate a brief trip on the very fine Bristol to Bath cycle path into my day’s working today. It’s the jewel in the cycling crown of this area – although I’d say the Two Tunnels path out of Bath runs it a close second. Around 2 million journeys take place on the path throughout the year, most of them commuting – think of all the motor vehicles kept off the road. The path is a green corridor through the heart of East Bristol, these corridors are massively important paths for wildlife to move from one green space to another and they provide a bouquet of wildflowers at this time of the year for pollinators to feast on. On a sunny June day it adds a taste of holiday to the working day and I’m always glad to be able to include it in getting around. If only all cycling in Bristol were like this.
